The History Behind this Wellness Blend

During the 15th century, the bubonic plague was spreading throughout Europe and Asia. At that time there was a group of thieves who were robbing graves. The thieves somehow never contracted the deadly bubonic plague even though they were in constant contact with corpses that most likely had died from the disease.

Once they were finally caught and charged they were offered a deal – share their secret in exchange for a reduced sentence. The thieves claimed to have worn an aromatic blend of clove, rosemary, vinegar, and other botanicals that they believed provided protection while they were stealing.

Not sure how true the story is but what I do know is I have had amazing results using this wellness blend! These oils have great antimicrobial benefits, which means is works great as a cleaner for just about everything in your house. And, it’s non-toxic, so I never worry about my kiddos touching stuff after I’ve cleaned.

Wellness Essential Oil Blend Cost Comparison

Through Young Living this Wellness Essential Oil blend would cost you $45. Rocky Mountain has there own version of this wellness essential oil blend that sells for $27. And Plant Therapy’s wellness essential oil blend is $14.

My homemade wellness blend costs me around $12 to make. The amount it will cost you depends on which brand of essential oils you decide to use. Remember that you aren’t using an entire bottle of oil to make this, you will have left overs to make more and use for other blends.

The Best Essential Oil Companies

The world of essential oils can be very overwhelming. Especially if you’re just starting out and don’t know very much about them. You may be wondering how to choose an essential oil brand that’s right for you.

I don’t believe there is one perfect essential oil company out there. There are a lot of bad ones that you definitely want to stay away from. But there are also a lot of amazing companies that sell high-quality, pure essential oils.

My favorite right now is Rocky Mountain oils. They harvest their plants where it grows naturally in the wild and their plants are organic. They also extract the oils with steam and are unadulterated. And they are bottled correctly and reasonably priced. They’re awesome. But I also love Plant Therapy and Eden’s Garden.

If you decide to use a different brand of essential oils, be sure to verify that they are 100% pure and of the absolute highest quality possible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Homemade Thieves Cleaner & Wellness Essential Oil Blend

Can I just use tap water?
I don’t trust the tap water where I live at all. Using distilled or filtered water ensures my homemade cleaners are chemical-free. With that being said, if you’re not worried about the safety of your tap water, by all means, use that instead.

Do I have to use witch hazel?
Witch hazel acts as an emulsifier, ensuring even distribution between all ingredients. Castile soap also acts as an emulsifier so if you don’t have witch hazel on hand you may find the cleaner works just as well without it.

How To Use Thieves Cleaner

This DIY cleaner is a jack of all trades. You can use it for soooo many things. My favorite things to clean with it are below.

  • countertops
  • sinks
  • mirrors
  • windows
  • bathtub
  • toilets
  • stovetop
  • floors
  • and sooo much more!!!

If the cleaner is too strong you can reduce the number of essential oil drops or if it isn’t strong enough add more essential oil drops.

Toilet Bomb!

Thieves is also great for cleaning toilets, try these Toilet Bombs the next time you are cleaning the bathroom.

Ingredients
2 Tbsp castile soap (this is what we use)
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
10 drops of Wellness Essential Oil Blend
1/2 cup baking soda

Instructions
Pour the castile soap, vinegar and essential oil straight into the toilet and swirl around. Let sit for 10 minutes. Then add baking soda (make sure you wait on the baking soda, otherwise it’ll go crazy and foam up). After the bubbles have died down, scrub the toilet and then flush.
