Attention Homestead Moms! 🌻🍂🌾 Fall is here and it`s the perfect time to start planning your fall garden. Here are 5 tips to help you get started:
1️⃣ Choose the right plants: Look for plants that thrive in cooler temperatures, such as lettuce, kale, spinach, and broccoli.

2️⃣ Prep your soil: Make sure your soil is well-drained and has plenty of nutrients. Consider adding compost or other organic matter to improve the soil quality.

3️⃣ Protect your plants: As the temperatures start to drop, be sure to protect your plants from frost and cold winds. Cover them with blankets or tarps, or consider using a cold frame or greenhouse.

4️⃣ Water wisely: While it`s important to keep your plants hydrated, be careful not to overwater them. Too much water can lead to root rot and other issues. Water deeply and infrequently, and try to water in the morning to avoid excess moisture overnight.

5️⃣ Harvest regularly: Don`t forget to harvest your crops regularly to keep them healthy and productive. Plus, you`ll get to enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Do you have too many tomatoes? and not enough time to can them?

Freeze them for a rainy day!!

Summertime is crazy here, so I freeze our tomatoes and save them until I have a slow day where I have enough time to can them. I`ll thaw them out and make sauce. I`ll also slice them up in chunks and can them for soups and various recipes.

Wash. Dry. Cut. Put them in a freezer bag. Freeze and that`s all!
