What is buried here?

We are working to move the raised bed garden. We didn’t realize that it looked like a grave yard till the neighbor stopped by.

It really does. Which is kinda fitting because it is the end of an era here at our Maryland homestead. 😔

Raised a garden beds our preferred way to garden.

We don’t have the best soil and we have kids and dogs that love to play outside. Raised bed gardens are great for controlling soil quality. And because the beds are defined the kids and dogs know where they are and stay out of them.

Which do you prefer? Raised beds or in the ground gardening.

But really it is our DIY mindset. Growing up we never hired anyone to do anything. As a family (with my dad leading) we would figure out how to fix and how to customize anything we needed.

Some of my favorite memories are building and fixing things with my dad. Building the porch, rebuilding the engine in my first car, finishing the basement, etc.

What I learned working with my dad has become invaluable as an adult. Today being a perfect example, the septic guy called and there are some more issues they found with the septic system, and I knew exactly what he was talking about and completely understood what he was saying making it so I felt extremely confident in him and the work that he would do for us.

I know that not everyone grew up with a dad like mine who just so happens to be a jack of all trades but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn. YouTube is a great resource to learn new skills, especially when it comes to DIY and even some of the big box stores will have free classes on Saturdays and Sundays to help you learn some of these skills so don’t let your mindset and don’t let others tell you what you can and cannot do.

Sourdough bagels are one of the easiest things to make?

I used to think making bagels was so hard. I actually would avoid them at ALL cost. Now it is like second nature.

Measure all the ingredients into a stand mixer turn it on and let it do its things for 7-10 minutes. Let sit over night and and in the morning you get to make bagels.

The more you do something the better you get until it becomes a habit and you can do it in your sleep.
