Dream Farmhouse Build

I have been looking at house plans for as long as I can remember and I NEVER could find one that fit everything I wanted. At one point I was even looking at modular homes because they seemed to check all the boxes. So when I stumbled upon this house plan just days after Nana’s build fell through it must have been a sign. This house checked so many of the boxes it was crazy!! And we could have just built it as it was orignally designed but that wouldn’t be a true Curtis project.

So Jamie and I along with my dad started planning and tweaking; it needed a bigger front porch, the back porch needed to be bigger, we needed a landing at the top of the basement stairs…. My original plan was to just buy the drawings and have my dad tweak them to fit what we needed but he suggested I contact the designer and see how much it would cost to customize them.

Well, I got a phone call from Lynchburg (about 30 minutes away from where we are building) one afternoon. I didn’t recognize the number so I ignored it and they actually left a message. It was the designer reaching out to go over my changes (sign number 2). I called him back and we chatted about the changes we wanted to make and how much it would cost. He also told me that this house was originally built in Virginia about 45 minutes away from where we would be building (sign number 3). We had Paragon Home Plans make the changes and started looking for builders.

We went with Wright Choice Construction and when I met with the designer to go over the design and features she told me that she had designed his house before (sign number 4).

There have been too many signs for us to deny that this is the home we were meant to build!! We are over the moon excited and can’t wait to take you along on this adventure.
